Hello from New Zealand!
We are so excited to announce that Ben's short film - The Luckiest Man Alive - has won Best Drama at the E Tu Whanau Rangatahi Film Awards by Maoriland Charitable Trust in Otaki, New Zealand. Ben was part of their workshop for young filmmakers this past February, and his group had the opportunity to work together as a team to come up with the script, acting, recording and editing. Ben plays "The Snipper". Time was really tight though with the workshop running only for two days over the weekend, so... well, let's just say... there was not enough time to finish it all as the team had planned! But, what a great opportunity to be able to produce a film and overcome challenges under the supervision of the awesome crew at Maoriland. The Luckiest Man Alive is now running for the People's Choice Award along with other 15 short films created by young filmmakers from Aotearoa. You can watch the movies and vote here. The winner of People's Choice will be announced on April 23. Good luck, Ben! I hope that wherever you are, you and your family are safe and healthy during these Covid times. Unfortunately my beloved country, Brazil, is going through its worse since the pandemic started. To our readers and followers in Brazil, we send our prayers and love.
