“Create Your Book” workshop started as a desire to reproduce what Ben's parents had done for him when they published his first book -"Weirdo". An initiative to reward and encourage his writing. When children create their own books and take them home with them, they feel proud and recognized. And they have a beautiful book to remind them of their achievement forever.
Our workshops are preceded by a presentation about our journey publishing children's books independently. We share our books with the audience and read a few extracts of "The Magic Pencil". After the presentation we invite children to join our workshop. All material is provided.
Our books are always for sale at our workshops. Cash and EFTPOS is accepted or you can buy them here.
We would love to bring our workshop to your library, fairs or event. Please fill in the form below and we will be in touch soon.
Program
Children think of a short story they would each like to write. There will be some themes available if they would like to use those.
We have a “minute of silence” for the children to imagine their story and then they start writing it on a sheet of paper.
Once the story is complete we will “edit” it and rewrite on separate pages for the book.
Children start drawing a few illustrations for the story, specially the little ones who might want to have more drawings and only a few words. Parents are invited to help younger ones.
We then compile the pages together and create a cover and a title for the book.
The book is bound together and the children take it home.
The End Duration: 1hr30min We are happy to tailor the workshop according to your needs. Contact us through form below.
